A Community That Takes Care of Its Own
A horse person's life can change forever in an instant.
— The reality driving 30 years of work
When faced with a catastrophic health event or other unforeseen disaster, horse people can lose everything: jobs, homes, financial security, independence and dignity, quality of life, and often the ability to stay involved with the horses they love. Lives are derailed, and entire families are affected.
Equestrian industry professionals dedicate their lives to the sport and face unique financial vulnerabilities. Unlike athletes in mainstream sports, there is no union, no pension, no safety net for trainers, grooms, farriers, and the countless professionals who make the equestrian world move. The Equestrian Aid Foundation exists precisely because no one else does what it does.
Among horse-related nonprofits, EAF is unique in that it assists equestrians from all corners of the horse world across the United States. Every discipline and profession — amateur and professional alike — is welcome.
This is a community caring for its own. That has always been the thread — and it will remain so.
Equestrian Aid Foundation: A Legacy of Hope
Three decades of service built on a single, uncompromising principle: the equestrian community does not abandon its own.
An Evening Celebrating Friends of the Foundation — one of the milestones in three decades of building community, recognition, and resilience.
Since its founding in 1996, the Equestrian Aid Foundation has provided over $4.3 million in grant support to breeders, farriers, grooms, riders, trainers, amateurs, and other members of the equestrian community facing life-altering or life-threatening crises — with assistance for basic living or rehabilitative expenses.
The foundation's work has evolved through every challenge the equestrian world has faced: wildfires, hurricanes, pandemic, and the quiet personal crises that never make headlines but devastate lives just the same. Through it all, one thing has never changed.
A Foundation Is Born
Emergency financial grants for equestrian professionals begin — the first organization of its kind to serve every discipline and profession, nationwide.
Reaching Every Corner
EAF expands its reach across all fifty states and every corner of the horse world: breeders, farriers, grooms, riders, trainers, amateurs — all welcome.
Crisis Response Deepens
Disaster relief programs and COVID-19 rapid-response grants prove the foundation's capacity to mobilize when the equestrian community faces sudden, widespread crisis.
Thirty Years of Showing Up
Over $4.3 million in grants. Three decades of quiet, consequential work. A legacy earned year by year, grant by grant, by a community that refuses to leave its own behind.
"Together, we can ride it out."
Since 1996, the Equestrian Aid Foundation has stood with every member of the equestrian community who needed a hand. That commitment does not expire.
